MAPPING THEORY THROUGH PRACTICE - THE LOGIC OF SUCCESS AND FAILURE

Fashion designer Helga Lára Halldórsdóttir holds a BA degree from the Iceland University of the Arts and an MFA in fashion design from The Swedish School of Textiles. Since graduating in 2018 she has been a part-time lecturer at the Iceland University of the Arts and The Reykjavík School of Visual Arts.

Helga Lára gives a lecture as a part of the Sneiðmynd lecture series at the Iceland University of the Arts, on Tuesday April 13th at 12:10, here on Microsoft Teams: https://bit.ly/3dStCvm

Currently Helga Lára is working on independent research within the field as well as various interdisciplinary collaborations with other designers and artists. She focuses on practice based research within the field of body, space and garment with a fascination for human nature and awkwardness while challenging the notion of dress.

In this lecture Helga Lára will go over her approach to design and show examples from within her MA research and chosen ongoing projects. This will be discussed in relation to academic design research with a focus on the criteria of progress.
