Hildigunnur Sverrisdóttir has been appointed Head of the Department of Architecture at the Iceland University of the Arts.
 
Hildigunnur holds a Cand.Arch. Degree from Kunstakademiets Arkitektskole in Copenhagen and has worked as a designer in architectural firms as well as working independently as a researcher, consultant and artistic director in the field of architecture and man-made environments. She is an active researcher, having published a number of articles and book chapters in the field of architecture and in a broader field of art, in addition to which she has considerable experience of interdisciplinary collaboration in various projects.
 
Hildigunnur has extensive experience in teaching and academic work. She has been a part-time lecturer at the Iceland University of the Arts since 2006 and was a programme director and adjunct at the Department of Design and Architecture from 2012 to 2015. She has also been a visiting lecturer in many countries, e.g. at Yale School of Architecture, Kunstakademiets Arkitektskole in Copenhagen, KTH in Stockholm, UIB in Bergen and UCLA and MIT Universities in the United States.
 
Hildigunnur has served on councils and committees, e.g. on behalf of IUA, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Association of Icelandic Architects and the Icelandic Literature Prize.
