Artist, book-maker & bookseller

Mark Pawson is an artist, book-maker and a bookseller who will give an open lecture at the Department of Design and Architecture of the Icelandic University of the Arts, Wednesday the 5th of December at 12:15. Pawson is a self-confessed image junkie and aficionado of accessible, affordable, low-tech hi-fi printing methods, his favorite toys/tools are rubberstamps, photocopiers and Print Gocco. Since discovering the international Mail Art network whilst still at school, he's been a one-man production line creating and selling a constant stream of books, postcards, badges, multiples, T-shirts and other essential ephemera. He has collaborated with jewelry makers Tatty Devine and worked with Levis Vintage Clothing. His self-published books which inhabit the territory between zines and artist’s books have been acquired by the Tate Gallery Library, London, the National Art Library at the V&A, London, MOMA, New York. He lives in London. Mark Pawson is a guest lecturer in an Illustration course in the Department of Design and Architecture at IUA, the course ends with students showcasing and selling their works at the Reykjavík Zine and Print Fair at Iðnó, Sunday the 9th of December 2018. 
 
In November the Department of Design and Architecture (Icelandic University of the Arts) welcomes you to Gestagangur Talks, a series of talks given by visiting teachers and lecturers, taking place in the lecture hall A in Þverholt 11. Each talk begins at 12:15. Gestagangur Talks are meant provide insights into practice and research currently taking place within the field of design and architecture, both locally and internationally. Visiting lecturers come from various backgrounds, highlighting the versatility and diversity of contemporary design and architecture. All lecturers are visiting teachers or part-time teachers at the department as well as being leading professionals in their respective fields.
