Kelechi Anna Hafstað 

Þessi teiknaða ljóðmynd fjallar um brothætt eðli sköpunargleðinnar þegar hún stendur andspænis tælandi þörfinni fyrir utanaðkomandi viðurkenningu. Verkið á rætur sínar í minni persónulegu reynslu af því að alast upp með, hlúa að og að lokum missa þá gleði sem ég eitt sinn fann í skrifum, sköpun sem áður veitti mér huggun. Þemun sem eru skoðuð í verkinu hafa mótað listræna nálgun mína. Til að tengjast barnslegri sköpunargleðinni á ný reyndi ég (oft erfiðlega) að sleppa tökunum á fyrirframgefnum væntingum. Ég vildi leyfa mér að prófa ólík stílbrögð og að vera opin fyrir óvæntum uppgötvunum og fallegum ófullkomleika.

This animated poem reflects on the fragility of creativity when confronted with the seductive pull of external validation. It is rooted in my personal experience of growing up with, nurturing, and ultimately losing the joy I once found in writing, a once comforting creative outlet. The themes explored in the work shaped my artistic approach. In seeking to reconnect with the childlike joy of creativity, I strove (and often struggled) to let go of fixed expectations, embrace experimentation across a range of animation techniques, and to remain open to accidental discoveries and beautiful imperfections.
