ÉG ELSKA ELSKA / I LOVE LOVE

Íslendingar segja „ég elska“ um ýmislegt, lítið sem stórt. Við elskum kaffið, sundið og ástina okkar. Verkið sprettur út frá orðinu elska og umbreytir þeirri tilfinningu í sjónrænan og efnislegan heim þar sem texti, hlutir og tengsl mynda heildarmynd. Sjá má verkið sem tilraun til að skapa mótefni við samfélagi þar sem hið mannlega er að dofna, samskipti minnka og einmanaleiki eykst. Með óvæntri nálgun inn í þennan heim skapar verkefnið rými fyrir tengsl, samfélag og stemningu. Aðferðafræðin byggir á „nudge“; að bjóða upp á valkvæðan kost – í raun á hverju sem er – og gera hann sýnilegan. Verkið byggir einnig á að hið óvænta fær meiri athygli en hið fyrirsjáanlega. Skilaboðunum er miðlað með birtingarmyndum orðsins elska, eins og knús, ást, hamingju og forvitni.

In Icelandic culture, the phrase “I love” is used for many things, big and small. We love coffee, swimming, and love itself. This work grows from the Icelandic phrase Ég elska elska (“I love love”) and transforms that feeling into a visual and material world where text, objects, and connections form a whole. It can be seen as an attempt to counteract a society in which human connection is fading, social interaction is decreasing, and loneliness is increasing. Through an unexpected approach, the project creates space for connection, community, and atmosphere. Its methodology is based on “nudge”: offering an optional choice and making it visible, allowing the unexpected to draw more attention than the predictable. The message is conveyed through expressions of love, such as hugs, affection, happiness, and curiosity.
