Fyrirlestrarröðin Samhengi býður tónlistarmanninum og upptökustjóranum Howie B og hljóð- og myndlistarmanninum Hiraki Sawa velkomna föstudaginn 16. október. Í tengslum við sýningu þeirra, 3 Sticks, í Gamla Bíó.

Í fyrirlestrinum Invert The Pyramid skoða þeir hvernig hljóð, mynd og tækni fléttast saman í 3 Sticks.

The lecture series Samhengi welcomes musician and producer Howie B and sound and visual artist Hiraki Sawa on Friday, October 16th. In connection with their performance 3 Sticks at Gamla Bíó, they will explore the creative process behind the work.

In the lecture Invert the Pyramid, they explore how sound, image and technology have come together in the development of 3 Sticks. Through conversation, live demonstrations, footage from previous performances, and a look at some of the software and tools used to create the work, they offer insight into their collaborative process and how ideas develop through experimentation and into live performance.

The event is open to all.

Howie B

Howie B is a Scottish musician, producer, composer and DJ whose work has helped shape the sound of contemporary electronic, club and experimental music. Emerging from Glasgow and London’s underground scenes,

Howie B built his craft in studios before becoming a trusted collaborator for some of the most influential artists of the last four decades.  His credits include work with Björk, U2, Tricky, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Soul II Soul, Robbie Robertson, Sly and Robbie, Casino Royale and many more. He co-produced U2’s Pop, contributed to Björk’s Post and Homogenic, and produced the hit Mission: Impossible Theme remix by Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr.  Alongside major studio work, Howie B has released a substantial body of music under his own name, including albums such as Music for Babies, Turn the Dark Off, Snatch, Folk and Down with the Dawn. As a DJ, he has brought his instinctive, genre-fluid approach to clubs, festivals and landmark mixes including FabricLive.05.

His work spans records, film, television, advertising and live performance, always driven by deep listening, sonic curiosity and a rare ability to connect underground culture with global audiences.

Hiraki Sawa

Hiraki Sawa is a Japanese artist based between London and Kanazawa. Working across moving image, installation, drawing and sculpture, he creates poetic environments that subtly reshape perceptions of space and time. His work moves between personal and collective memory, finding quiet universality in fleeting images, imagined landscapes and everyday experience.  Marked by fragility, wonder and nostalgia, Sawa’s practice explores how remembrance shifts, dissolves and returns.

In 3 Sticks, his moving images enter into a fluid dialogue with Howie B’s live music, creating an immersive audiovisual world that reflects on the self as something simultaneously intimate, infinite and continuously in motion.
