ResPress

ResPress er stafrænt verkfæri sem skoðar samband upplausnar, læsileika og stafrænnar leturfræði. Verkefnið spyr hversu miklar upplýsingar bókstafur þarf til að halda merkingu sinni, og hvað gerist þegar hann byrjar að brotna niður. Með því að lækka upplausn og einfalda form geta notendur ýtt letri að mörkum læsileika, þar sem stafir verða að mynstrum, táknum eða nýjum formum. Útkoman er ekki aðeins sjónræn tilraun, heldur letur sem hægt er að hlaða niður og nota áfram. ResPress notar tæknilegar hindranir sem skapandi aðferð til að endurhugsa hvernig við lesum stafrænt letur.

ResPress is a digital tool that explores the relationship between resolution, legibility, and typography in a digital world. At the heart of the project rests the question: how much information does a letter need to keep its original meaning, and what happens when it begins to break down? By lowering resolution and simplifying form, users test the limits of type’s legibility, where letters become patterns, symbols, or new visual forms. The result is not only a visual experiment, but a typeface that can be exported and used further. ResPress uses technical limitations as a creative method for rethinking how we read digital type.
