Við, hraun — By, lava

Hraunið er dularfullt. Það er kröftugt, fallegt, spennandi og býr yfir afli sem dregur mann að sér. Á sama tíma er tilvera þess áleitin áminning um eyðileggingu og sár. Það er yfirþyrmandi en magnþrungið.

Ég velti fyrir mér samtali okkar við hraunið og náttúruna, hvernig nálgumst við landslag í samhengi þess sem áður var og þess sem nú er.

Ég leita svara í anda staðarins. Ég sæki í sögu og staðhætti en líka í formfræði þess sem er. Út frá þessum þemum byrja rými að taka á sig mynd og form fara að mynda rými.

The lava field is mystical. It is powerful, beautiful, and exciting; there is something about it that draws you towards it. Yet, its very existence is a poignant reminder of destruction and loss. It is overwhelming and dangerous.

I contemplate about this dialogue between ourselves and the lava, and the surrounding nature. How do we approach a landscape, in relation to what was, and what has become.

I seek answers in the spirit of the place. I seek answers in its history and identity, but also in its abstract morphology. From these fragments, spaces begin to take shape, and shapes begin to define spaces.
