About the project

The lava is mysterious It is powerful, beautiful, exciting, and possesses a force that draws one in At the same time, its existence is a haunting reminder of destruction and wound It is overwhelming but quantitative.

I wonder about our conversation with the lava and nature, how do we approach the landscape in the context of what used to be and what is now.

I seek answers in the spirit of the placeI draw from history and place-based practices but also from the morphology of what is From these themes, spaces begin to take shape and forms begin to form spaces.

The lava field is mystical. It is powerful, beautiful, and exciting; there is something about it that draws you towards it. Yet, its very existence is a poignant reminder of destruction and loss. It is overwhelming and dangerous.

I contemporate about this dialogue between oursolves and the lava, and the surrounding nature. How do we approach a landscape, in relation to what was, and what has become.

I seek answers in the spirit of the place. I seek answers in its history and identity, but also in its abstract morphology. From these fragments, spaces begin to take shape, and shapes begin to define spaces.
