Professionalism, vocational training and professional qualifications of music teachers

What is teacher professionalism hidden in? The ideal of professionalism includes confidentiality with the moral values and duties of the work to society Other theories question the ideal and say the nature of professions has other roots, for example in self-care or monopoly over the field of work and knowledge According to the ideal of professionalism, the main themes in the characteristics of a profession are moral commitment, autonomy in how jobs are done and responsibility for progress in the profession. Does anything indicate that the class of music teachers fulfills any of these characteristics?

The research is a qualitative interview study Interviews were conducted with four music principals, two in the countryside and two in the capital area The purpose of the interviews was to check what educational requirements music principals make for recruitment and what they look for in the course of teachers The thematic analysis was used in processing the interviews and the results were related to the main themes of moral commitment, autonomy about their own work and responsibility for professional development in the profession.

Results indicate that music principals see their teachers as well-educated professionals who take responsibility for reforms in the profession and also show a moral commitment towards the values of the job. The interviewees of the study agreed that these issues were crucial in creating the best conditions for learning.
