Faculty of Architecture

Architects have the mission of changing for the better - to increase tangible and intangible quality Practical qualities, aesthetics and ideology can have a wide impact on the environment and society and come into play many times a day in every person's life.

Architecture is not a product but a methodology that is based equally on research, reasoning, attitude, aesthetics, intuition and imagination. In the architecture department, it is emphasized that students know the meaning of the theoretical assumptions of architecture and can, based on their knowledge, take a responsible attitude towards the environment and society.

Architecture is to some extent about spotting the possibilities in what has yet to occur Students are therefore constantly encouraged to seek new solutions and ways and to put special attention to originality, imagination and critical thinking.

Objectives of the Faculty of Architecture

  • offering ambitious learning and teaching
  • developing a learning community of teachers and students
  • developing interdisciplinary collaborative processes in design
  • working towards sustainability
  • building a research culture that supports collective knowledge creation
  • addressing contemporary challenges in society through design methodology
  • to promote the culture of design as a driving force in society
  • to promote constructive changes in society

As architecture is a force of change for an increased quality of life, there is a strong emphasis on students tackling the issues at the top of the agenda in society It is very important to focus attention on local conditions in a global context and to deal with the extremes of living in a small country with a vast and spectacular nature.

Emphasis is placed on understanding the traditional and historical context of the disciplines to which the study paths are related, and on presenting new questions about the relevant scope, type and production process in the modern context Architects must deal with limited access to resources Innovation must therefore be well thought out and put into context with systematic sustainability, with regard to the use of resources, production processes and the life cycle of raw materials.

Collaboration
Architecture always involves consultation and collaboration The Architecture Department seeks to foster dialogue and collaboration with a diverse group of professionals and laypeople, as it is an important part of the program The faculty's teachers have established partnerships with a number of organizations, institutions and companies for the development of projects carried out in courses and research and/or development projects Collaborative models are diverse and in continuous development and formation Collaboration with different parties provides dialogue and communication with the place necessary in all collaborative efforts in creativity and interdisciplinary thinking.

“ Architecture deals with how all the world's inhabitants can live together on earth - and it is both a complex and multi-layered subject.”
