Það sem var og verður / What was and what will be

Vörulínan ÞAÐ SEM VAR OG VERÐUR hverfist um ál og ímynd þess sem sjálfbært efni. Þótt ál sé talið endalaust endurvinnanlegt, reynist endurvinnsluferlið oft flókið og háð mörgum hindrunum. Helstu áskoranir felast í festingum, húðun og blöndun mismunandi efna. Úr þessum áskorunum þróast þrír hlutir: lampi, spegill og klukka. Hver og einn hlutur bregst við áskorunum þremur á sinn hátt. Útlit þeirra endurspeglar spennuna milli hráleika efnisins og mögulegrar fínvinnslu þess, þar sem samspil milli stýrðra og óstýrðra ferla gefur hverjum hlut einstakt yfirbragð. Hlutirnir þrír eru allir unnir úr sömu álfelgunni og eru merktir „felga“ til að gera uppruna efnisins sýnilegan og gefa vísbendingar um álblöndu þess, sem styður áframhaldandi notkun efnisins.

The product line WHAT WAS AND WHAT WILL BE explores aluminum and its image as a sustainable material. Although aluminum is considered endlessly recyclable, the recycling process often proves to be more complex and shaped by several challenges. These challenges are primarily fastenings, coatings, and the mixing of different materials. From these challenges, three objects were created: a lamp, a mirror, and a clock, each responding to them in different ways. Their appearance reflects the tension between the rawness of the material and its potential for refinement, where uncontrolled elements give each object a unique expression. All three objects were made from the same aluminum wheel rim and is marked “felga” to make the origin of the material visible and to provide indications of its alloy composition, supporting the continued use of the material.
