Not for Healing

Artist: Sepideh Safyari, 2nd year MA Fine Art student

Not for Healing is a solo exhibition by Sepideh Safyari that reflects on the experience of the body over time, focusing on moments that are often overlooked in dominant narratives, moments suspended between damage, care, and continuation.
The works in this exhibition are personal in origin, yet avoid storytelling or resolution. Rather than offering explanations, they create spaces for pause, where viewers can form their own relationship with presence and experience.
Not for Healing does not aim to provide answers or suggest a clear path. Instead, it offers an encounter with something unfinished, something that resists closure and remains in motion.

My name is Sepideh Safyari. I am an Iranian artist and an MA student at the Iceland University of the Arts. My work grows out of personal experiences and everyday observations, but I try to move beyond individual storytelling and create open spaces for encounter. I am deeply interested in process, in repetition, material experimentation, and working with time. Many of my projects change while they are being made, and I allow the process itself to shape the final form. What matters to me is not only the outcome, but also the traces of decisions, pauses, and uncertainties that remain within the work. In my practice, I reflect on the relationship between body, image, and space, and I aim to create situations rather than narratives.
