Linda van Deursen – The Self-evident Value of Images

Grafíski hönnuðurinn og kennarinn Linda van Deursen býr og starfar í Amsterdam í Hollandi. Hún stofnaði hönnunarstofuna Mevis & van Deursen ásamt Armand Mevis árið 1987. Í gegnum árin unnu þau verkefni fyrir menningarstofnanir á borð við Stedelijk Museum í Amsterdam, Documenta 14, Feneyjartvíæringinn og Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Þau hafa hlotið fjölda verðlauna fyrir verk sín, þar á meðal silfurverðlaun í keppninni „Most Beautiful Books in the World“, Leipzig.
Linda stýrði braut grafískrar hönnunar við Gerrit Rietveld Academie um árabil (2001–2014) og kenndi við Yale School of Art í um tuttugu ár. Samhliða vinnu á eigin hönnunarstofu í Amsterdam er Linda nú gestakennari í grafískri hönnun við EKA í Tallinn og við brautina Non Linear Narrative í KABK í Den Haag.

Linda van Deursen will give an open lecture on Monday, April 27th, at 18:00 at Bíó Paradís. The event is hosted by the Iceland University of the Arts (@iceland_university_of_the_arts) and the Association of Icelandic Graphic Designers (@teiknarar).
Graphic designer and educator Linda van Deursen lives and works in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She co-founded the design studio Mevis & van Deursen alongside Armand Mevis in 1987. Over the years, they collaborated with cultural institutions such as the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Documenta 14, the Venice Biennale, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. They have received numerous awards for their work, including a silver medal for „Most Beautiful Books in the World“, Leipzig.
Linda served as the head of the Graphic Design Department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie for many years (2001–2014) and has been a senior critic at the Yale School of Art. Alongside running her own studio in Amsterdam, she currently serves as a guest lecturer in Graphic Design at EKA in Tallinn and within the Non Linear Narrative program at KABK in The Hague.
