The Nijigen culture represented by animation, comics, light novels and games has deeply influenced a large number of young people in East Asia and even the world.I was exposed to this culture from a very young age, and today it can be said that it has become a part of me. The works on display are based on my research and understanding of Nijigen subculture from the perspective of self-analysis. Illusory Utopia is showing the third project in this series.
A mechanical installation that explores the constantly flowing emotional tension between virtual and reality worlds, invites the audience to cross the boundary formed by the interweaving of reality and virtuality.
Jiayan Chen (b.1998) graduated with BA degree in Experimental Art from Central Academy of Fine Art ,China. Her areas of interest include but are not limited to: linguistics, dreams, and subcultures. She draws inspiration from her own upbringing and engages in artistic creation that is not limited to any medium.
