Samhengi welcomes Arnbjörg María Danielsen on Friday, February 6, with the lecture Staged Sound // Charged Image.
The event will take place in Dynjandi, the Music Department building, at Skipholt 31.
All are warmly welcome.
In her lecture Arnbjörg María explores performance-making where music is not decoration but the organising force, shaping structure, timing, and attention as the stage becomes a composed environment rather than a place to “act out” a story. Drawing on her practice, she reflects on how sound and image can meet without being forced into agreement—how bodies, objects, light, and space can be allowed to appear on their own terms. The lecture touches on absence and intensity: how a room is held by what is present, and by what is withheld.
Arnbjörg María Danielsen is an Icelandic artist and curator, and the founder of marvaða, art production house and music label. Her practice is led by music and extends into performance-installation, experimental opera, movement, text, and spatial composition. She works with time, attention, and collaboration as material, creating durational environments in which sound shapes the room and the audience experiences the work from within. Alongside her own artistic practice, she has commissioned, developed and produced cross-disciplinary work with other artists across music, visual arts and performance.
