Spanish-Filipino flutist Rafael Adobas Bayog, 1st Prize winner of the 2022 Kobe International Flute Competition, has performed in prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Elbphilharmonie and Tokyo’s Hamarikyu Asahi Hall. Selected by Emmanuel Pahud for the Classeek Ambassador Programme, he studied at the Barcelona and Munich Music Conservatories and at the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra Academy. He has played with the Berliner Philharmoniker, NDR Elbphilharmonie, and Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, and as soloist with the Ensemble Resonanz and Copenhagen Philharmonic. Acknowledged by his curiosity and freshness on stage, Rafael continues to explore new ways of blending music with other arts and genres. In September 2025, Rafael began a new chapter as Principal Flute of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
