One of the goals of LHÍ's library and information services is to promote information literacy within LHÍ through education and advice to students, teachers and school staff.

Each school year, LHÍ's library and information service has presentations and education for new students, but education is also offered for students who are more advanced in their studies, master's students, teachers and other school employees.

The purpose of the education is to introduce the library to students and the sources of information, digital and printed, to which it provides access and to teach them to use them during their university studies There is also an emphasis on assessing the quality of information and that students can choose from and use it in a targeted manner.

You can order training by sending mail to bokasafn@lhi.is

    • Teachers can make recommendations on what to buy in their fields Teachers send proposals for book purchases to the professional directors in the relevant department. Professional managers make decisions about book purchases submit a request for book purchases to the library.
    • Teachers can ask library staff to remove material from the collection and/or submit material that they themselves have study library. In this way, all students in a course can be guaranteed access to the material. It is important that the library receives information about material that is to be in the study library well in advance. Requests for study libraries can be sent to bokasafn@lhi.is
    • A library and information scientist can be brought in to make an appointment with a presentation/teaching in source searches in connection with student project work, and if teachers themselves wish to learn better to use specific datasets, individual instruction is offered.
    • It is desirable that teachers can provide sources in their course descriptions and that they alert the library before the course begins.

More information about services can be obtained from the museum's employees and/or by sending an inquiry to bokasafn@lhi.is
