Interlibrary loans are loans of books or journal articles from other libraries when the requested material is not held by the IUA library.

Interlibrary loans do not apply to materials held by public libraries in the capital region. Borrowers are advised to use the services of those libraries directly.

Interlibrary loan requests should be submitted via Leitir.is - see instructions.

Borrowers:

  • Search for the item in leitir.is and click on Search for available services.
  • Log in as users of the Iceland University of the Arts using electronic ID or a username and password.
  • Select Interlibrary loan í How to approach.
  • Mark Willing to pay.
  • Select Delivery point from the list.
  • Click on Send request.

If the publication is not found on leitir.is:

  • Click on the tab Interlibrary loan.
  • Log in with your electronic ID or username and password.
  • Fill out Request for interlibrary loan.
  • Mark Willing to pay.
  • Select Delivery point from the list.
  • Click on Send request.

We process interlibrary loan requests as quickly as possible. Loan periods for borrowed materials are 30 days, and renewals may be requested.

Books and articles can be collected at the library's service desk in Stakkahlíð. Please note that journal articles are supplied in print only.

Interlibrary loan requests are binding, and borrowers will be charged for items that are requested but not collected..

If any problems arise, please contact the library at 545 2217 or send an email to millisafnalan@lhi.is
