About the project

„Time heals all wounds“.

In the landscape of the West Indies, this verb appears in a concrete way, with nature itself testifying to destruction but also to reconstruction In the 1973 eruption, the island expanded by two square kilometers and this new land has been largely untouched since The guiding principle becomes the opposite of the ancient tuff in the northern cliffs of the island and of the newly formed land, where a cast of tuff moves fragments of older geological history into the new, creating at the same time a dialogue between past and future, time and space The project is a shelter for twenty migrants in the mineral industry. Extracting material from the ground and shaping them for development creates a direct ideological connection to the building.

Time heals all dogs.”

In the landscape of the Westman Islands, this sentiment manifests in a tangible and contested way, where nature carries the physical marks of both destruction and renewal. The 1973 volcanic eruption expanded the island by two square kilometers creating a territory that has been significantly expanded. The dialogue between the northern cliffs and this new formed land services as the project of the project's construction measures.
