Creative reuse in focus on Disorders

The project Misvíðir was held in its eleventh place with flying colors on October 30 last. The project is the result of students in their 2nd year of fashion design at the school and is being worked on in collaboration with the Icelandic Red Cross Clothing Collection. The aim of Misvíðis is to explore ways to create new clothing from unsaleable clothes using design methods and draw attention to the growing problem of textile waste.

In an era where clothing production far exceeds the actual need and pollution caused by the fashion and textile industries has reached dangerous heights, it is important to consider sustainability and utilization Disparities emphasize creative reuse, as old materials and garments take on a new life through the design and professional approach of students.

The exhibition featured the following students with unique works, all based on reuse and originality:

The works showed diverse approaches to textile reuse and were a testament to the fact that environmental awareness and creativity can go hand in hand With Disparities, not only new clothing is being created, but also a new perspective on the future of fashion.

The students' clothing lines will be on display in Fjöru, Stakkahlíð, on November 14 -16, where the public will have the opportunity to take a closer look at the works and get to know the philosophy behind them. The exhibition in Fjöru is an extension of the project and gives an insight into how design can contribute to a more sustainable future.
