About the project

The sea takes a long time - then it returns /The sea receives for a long time - then it gives back.

The work deals with the eternal substances that fall under the umbrella term PFAS substances. These substances are released into the sea through untreated sewer systems and are found, among other things, in the fish on Icelanders' plates. Since fish is a large part of Icelanders' diet and one of their most important exports, these substances travel from the ocean and into our bloodstream. The project seeks to inform readers about PFAS substances and the consequences of letting them into our bodies and environment. If the system becomes unmolested, how can we remove these substances from our blood vessels?

These substances enter the ocean through untreated wastewater systems and are found, among other places, in the fish on our plates. As fish constitutes a significant part of the Icelandic diet and one of the country's most important exports, these substances travel from the ocean into our bloodstream. The project seeks to inform views about PFAS and the concepts of allowing these chemicals to continue?
