The thesis investigates the learning environment of bands and how the projects facing bands promote them both as musicians but also their relationship with themselves and the society around them. The study used qualitative research methods, but I interviewed working bands and recorded audio recordings of band rehearsals.
The results of the study are then placed in the context of informal learning, pop and rock music, band history, and Dewey's theories of experiential learning, society, and democracy The study reveals that in bands, members are given the opportunity to apply their knowledge and make creative use of it They acquire skills in communication, understanding of others, and organization Ultimately, bands are small communities based on democracy, trust, and love.
