Atli Ingólfsson
Atli Ingólfsson is a professor of composition at the Iceland Academy of the Arts. He studied composition in Reykjavík, Milan and Paris. Atli has composed a number of compositions of all kinds that have been played in many places at home and away from home, but a number of his works have also been published on a recording. He has written something about music, culture and music theory and published, among other things, in Révue d'analyse musicale, Skírni, Són, Tempo, Fréttablaðin, Morgunblaðinu as well as here in Þráðir. He has also published the book Veðarskeyti frá Ásgard (Porlagð 2021).
Einar Indra Kristbjargarson
Einar Indra is a composer and sound artist who works across media where electronic sounds, environmental recordings, acoustic instruments and voice processing meet in reflective and flowing works. He has an MA in composition from the Iceland Academy of the Arts and sees music as a study of time, space and deep listening. His work has been well received at festivals such as Airwaves, Reeperbahn and Mondo, and he has worked with diverse artists on art, plays and sound works. His music has also been published by Möller Records.
Einar Torfi Einarsson
Einar Torfi Einarsson is a composer and professor at the music department of the Iceland Academy of the Arts He studied composition in Reykjavík, Amsterdam, Graz, and obtained a doctorate in composition from the University of Huddersfield. 2013-2014 he held a research position at the Orpheus Institute in Belgium His music has been performed at music festivals around the world and won awards in the Netherlands and Austria His research has been published in Perspectives of New Music and published by Leuven University Press and Routledge (CRC Press). Then his music has been published by KAIROS and the HCR label.
Hróðmar I. Sigurbjörnsson
Hróðmar I. Sigurbjörnsson has taught at the music department of the University of the Arts since 2005. He was the professional director of composition and music studies in the bachelor's program from 2014-2023 and the professional director of the master's program in composition from 2015-2018. Hróðmar now teaches the music theory and analysis course of the bachelor's program.
Majella Clarke
Majella Clarke works at the intersection of art, science and technology. As a conductor, her practice focuses on both experimental conducting, Sonic Batons and Open Ensembles for New Performance Inclusion of classical music and contemporary ensembles. She graduated with her MMus from Iceland University of the Arts focused on Innovative Practice in Conducting: Graphic Scores and Open Ensembles for the formal projects involving the creative society, and recovery.
Þórhallur Magnússon
Þórhallur Magnússon is a professor at Sussex University in England and a research professor at the University of Iceland. In addition to the development of musical instruments and music systems, he writes music programs, articles and books about music. In 2022, MIT Press published the book Live Coding: A Users Manual, which deals with live programming for artistic creation, before that, Bloomsbury Academic published the book Sonic Writing: Technologies of Material, Symbolic and Signal Inscriptions, where he examines the roots of computer music in the 21st century back in ancient times. Þórhallur directs the project Intelligent Instruments, which was funded by the European Research Council and is hosted at the University of Iceland in collaboration with the Iceland Academy of the Arts.
