About the program

The BA program in filmmaking is a 180-unit course designed for those who have already completed their matriculation exam, show interest or talent in visual storytelling, and wish to work in filmmaking or plan to later go to graduate school.

The program focuses on key positions in filmmaking, but offers a wide range of education in six professional fields - directing, screenwriting, production, cinematography, editing and sound. Students primarily acquire education in feature filmmaking, but receive some training in making documentaries.

Aside from bringing students the tools required by the profession, the faculty seeks to develop and develop creative partnerships across professional fields, to encourage students to apply critical thinking to their own work and the art form in general, and to train students to give and receive constructive criticism in all areas.

The department also encourages responsible working methods and sustainability in filmmaking, and welcomes the challenges of new technology.

Study structure

The BA program in Filmmaking spans three years In the first school year, all students take the same courses, and each student is the author of numerous exercises designed to train the basics of the six traditional professional areas of filmmaking.

Students begin their second year by creating short documentaries The rest of the school year is then devoted to the creation of each person's first „proper“ feature short film Throughout this process, each student begins to fumble closer to their focus subject, through specialized elective courses.

In the third year, students gain experience in the working world through internships, write a BA thesis, perform their final project, and start thinking about life after graduation.

After completing his studies

At the end of the program, students will have gained extensive basic knowledge in six traditional professional areas of filmmaking, as well as increased knowledge in their chosen field of expertise They will possess the skills required by the profession and/or to begin graduate work in filmmaking.
