STABAT MATER ‘Giovanni Battista Pergolesi

Students and teachers from six music universities in Salerno · Avellino · Gallarate · Parma · Treviso and Tallinn come together in collaboration with Iceland Academy of the Arts and Hallgrímskirkja and perform one of the most famous works in music history, Stabat Mater.

Stabat Mater describing the sorrow of Mary the Mother of God at the Crucifixion of Christ, the Latin text is the 13th-century Sekven by the monk Jacopone da Todi and has attracted countless composers over the centuries.

Pergolesi composed his masterpiece in 1736, towards the end of his short life and its music bears clear signs Emotional, beautiful and sad.

The work is regularly heard all over the world and is very often performed on Good Friday or in connection with the Easter festival.

Pergolesi composed his masterpiece in 1736, near the end of his short life, and the music bears that mark. Deeply felt, beautiful and sad. The work is performed regularly around the world and is especially believed as a piece for Good Friday and the Easter season.
