The exhibition Leiðarlag in Sigurjón Ólafsson's Art Museum is a joint exhibition of first-year master's students in art at the Iceland Academy of the Arts. Curators are master's students in exhibition production, communication and exhibition management at the University of Iceland.
The art museum stands on Laugarnestanga, an area that possesses rich history and diverse cultural monuments that have been shaped over the centuries The title of the exhibition refers to the phenomenon of guiding laws; defined, horizontal strata that run parallel to the surface of the earth and are each characterized by specific physical, chemical and biological characteristics. Here the process of biological transformation is reflected in the historical strata of Laugarness, where the historical periods pile up on top of each other like soil that builds up over time; layer by layer The works of the exhibition mark a new stage in this layered process The exhibition creates space for various media and forms of expression of the artists who all come from different backgrounds. The artists respond to their predecessors and leave their own traces in the memories of the ever-changing soil.
The curator's guided tour of the exhibition will be offered on Saturday, March 21 at 2:00 p.m. and an artist's talk on Sunday, March 22 at 2:00 p.m. and March 29 at 3:30 p.m. An exhibition of a short documentary will be held on Saturday, March 28 at 28, under the guidance of Þuru (Þuríðar Sigurðardóttir), a singer and visual artist.
