Third-year students in the film arts department of the Iceland University of the Arts recently participated in Gothenburg Film Festival and Nordic Film Market in Gothenburg, one of the most important events in the Nordic film industry The participation is an annual part of the work of the department and marks an important step in connecting students to the professional environment.
Students from various Nordic film schools took part in a five-day course under the title Entering the Industry, course in collaboration with Nordicil, a cooperation network of Nordic film schools. Cooperative schools include LHÍ, Den Danske Filmskole, Den Norske Filmskolen, Stockholm University of the Arts and HDK-Valand (University of Gothenburg), which were also hosts of the festival.
This year, over 150 students participated and gained insight into the activities of film festivals, practices and networks in the Nordic film industry The course was attended by students with lectures and seminars with leading professionals from the industry, including film journalist Wendy Mitchell, pitch trainers Valeria Richter and Helene Granqvist, director Ruben Östlund and film industry expert and analyst Johanna Koljonen.
This year, a new event was also held Nordic Film Market under the name New Nordic Voices, where film students presented their projects to professionals from the industry One representative from each participating school was selected and they received professional pitch training in the days leading up to the event.
Elizabeth Karen Guarino, represented LHÍ and presented the project there Cardio Bunny.
