Einar Torfi Einarsson

Einar Torfi Einarsson received his Ph.D. in Composition from the University of Huddersfield where he was supervised by Aaron Cassidy. Previously he studied composition at Reykjavik College of Music, Conservatory of Amsterdam and University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. He also studied in masterclass and private setting with Salvatore Sciarrino, Brian Ferneyhough, Beat Furrer and Peter Ablinger. His music has been awarded several prizes and been performed and broadcast throughout Europe by ensembles such as Klangforum Wien, ELISION Ensemble, Ensemble Intercontemporain. His research interests lie in the interplay of poststructuralist philosophy and notation, and in inter- and post-disciplinary art. In 2013-14 he was a post-doc Research Fellow at the Orpheus Institute in Belgium. His research has been published in Perspectives of New Music and by Leuven University Press.
