Hafrún Birna Björnsdóttir began studying violin at the age of four with Lilja Hjaltadottir at Allegro
Suzuki Music School In 2020, she completed her advanced degree in violin from the School of Music. Subsequently, she began studying viola under the guidance of Þórunn Óskar Marinósdóttir and completed her leaving exam from MÍT in the spring of 2021. From there she went to the Iceland Academy of the Arts, where she has studied under the guidance of Þórun. Hafrún has spent her third school year in Helsinki on an exchange program at the Sibelíus Academy and studied there under the guidance of Atte Kilpeläinen.
Hafrún has played with various orchestras and chamber groups. These include the Icelandic Opera, the Chamber Opera, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra's Youth Orchestra, the Young People's Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra
Norden, Opera by the fjord, chamber group Stundaróm and Erasmus Orchestra. She has also attended a number of courses over the years and worked with a diverse group of artists on interaction projects of various kinds.
