Íris Orradóttir was born in Reykjavík on April 27, 2002. At the age of seven, Íris, who had lived in Norway for several years, moved to Akureyri and began studying music there at the Music School in Akureyri. For the first ten years, she studied clarinet under the guidance of Jacub Kolokowski. In 2019, Íris began studying with Michael Dean Weaver on clarinet and she completed her postgraduate studies on clarinet in 2022. In the same year, Íris moved to Reykjavík and for the last three years she has aimed for a bachelor test in clarinet performance under the guidance of Einar Jóhannesson.
Íris has participated in various projects over the years, she played with the brass band of the Music School in Akureyri and started playing with the Akureyri Brass Band at a young age on various occasions. During her student years at the Akureyri High School, she took part in the production of three theater performances by the LMA theater company, where she played the clarinet as well as playing the role of artistic director at two shows where she was in charge of arranging and composing music.
In addition, she has participated in the projects of the Youth Orchestra of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Amateur Symphony Orchestra. Íris also taught clarinet and saxophone for a year and a half in the School Orchestra of Vesturbær and Midbær.
