Högni Gunnar studied with Örnólf for a full ten years, after which he went to Gunnar Kvaran. He enjoyed the guidance of Gunnar Kvaran for the next four years or until he graduated with a secondary degree from Sigursvein's Music School in 2022. In the fall of 2022, he began studying classical instrumentation at the Iceland Academy of the Arts under the guidance of Sigurðar Bjarka Gunnarsson and Sigurgeir Agnarsson.
