Welcome to the open lecture of the Faculty of Fine Arts.
Sigrún Hrólfsdóttir, who was recently appointed professor at the Art Department of the Iceland Academy of the Arts, will discuss her own work in the lecture.
Sigrún working with a variety of media, paintings, drawings, installations and performance art, which deal with visible and invisible forces in the world She has exhibited in all major museums and exhibition venues here at home and in many places abroad, on her own and together with the Performance Club/The Icelandic Love Corporation (1996-2016).Her work can be found in public and private collections. Sigrún has taught at the Iceland Academy of the Arts as a part-time teacher since 2002 and was the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts from 2016-2021. In the years 2022-2023, she held a research position on the role of women in Icelandic art at the Reykjavík Art Museum. She studied art at the Iceland School of Art and Handicrafts and Pratt University, New York and has a BA and MA degree in art theory and philosophy from the University of Sigrún lives and works in Iceland.
