In his lecture at the Art Department of the Iceland Academy of the Arts, the sculptor Matt Siegle discuss the interaction between objects, bodies and landscapes. Lecturein focused on the legendary American west, as it appears and transforms through his own body as a queer American. Siegle will discuss his own work in mixed media in the context of other subjects, including trash, queer approach to bronze, the work Lightning Field, additional sculptures (e. Addative sculpture), routes taken in migration, publica sex venues, Marlborough-the man, kitsch, camp and despair.

Matt Siegle is an artist who works with mixed media and has a roving studio His work explores the relationship between queer bodies and landscapes Siegle has exhibited his work across the United States and Europe, including at the Liste Art Fair Basel (Switzerland), Getty Institute (Los Angeles), and Artists Space (New York), and has received coverage in Artforum, The New York Times, Contemporary Art Daily, and Mousse Magazine, along with other media His projects also cover writing and exhibition management, and he is currently working on a book that addresses the fundamental assumptions of part-time art work Siegle studied genetics in undergraduate studies and earned an MFA degree in art from the California Institute of the Arts He now teaches sculpture and drawing at Dartmouth College, where he has also served as a consultant to the Curatorial Fellowship Class of 1960.

Siegle will discuss his own mixed-media work in relation to other subjects including trash, queering bronze artwork, the Lightning Field, additive sculpture, migratory pathways, public sex sites, the Marlborough Man, kitsch, camp, and desperation.
Matt Siegle is a mixed-media artist with an itinerant studio practice. His work examples the intersection of queer bodies and the landscape. Siegle has studied the United States and Europe, including Liste Art Fair Basel (Switzerland), the Getty Institute (Los Angeles), and Artists Space (New York), with coverage by Artforum, The New York Times, Contemporary Art Daily, and Mousse Magazine, among other outlets. His practice also includes writing and curatorial projects, and he is currently working on a book examining the fundamental propositions of object-based artwork. Siegle studied as well as literature in the International Institute of Art and Culture in California.
