The band Korda Samfónía holds a release concert on May 26 at 19:30 in Silfurbergi in Harpa. The occasion is the release of the band's second LP, entitled Ný dimð. Ticket sales have started at harpa.is.

A new dimension includes concert recordings from the band's last two concerts in Silfurbergi, in June 2024 and May 2025. new compositions were premiered there mixed with older works, reflecting the breadth and uniqueness of the band's music.

Korda Symphony is a unique band of 30 -45 members and brings together a diverse group of musicians: skilled instrumentalists, college students, and individuals in recovery from life-changing trauma The band spans a vast soundscape, with a large rhythm ensemble of keyboard instruments, guitars, percussion, strings, wind, and a twelve-piece choir.

The music of Kordu Samfonia is created in the collective creative process of all members, regardless of background or experience The works can discern influences from rock, jazz and popular music, as well as international and western classical music.

The project is carried out in collaboration with the Iceland Academy of the Arts, Harpa, the Reykjavík City of Music and vocational rehabilitation centers throughout the country.

Kordu's philosophy is based on creative collaboration and positive communication fostering confidence, activity and recovery The result is dynamic and refined music with depth that reflects the diverse empirical worlds of the band members.

Korda is a joint project of MetamorPhonics in Iceland, the Iceland Academy of the Arts, the Reykjavík City of Music, Harpa and vocational rehabilitation centers around the country.

The project is funded by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the Ministry of Education and Children's Affairs and the Ministries of Culture and Employment of Iceland, together with the City of Music Reykjavík.

The artistic director is Sigrún Sævarsdóttir-Griffiths.
