TNT - 16 students start studying in the new LHÍ course
25 August 2025
Today, sixteen students began studying a new course in the Music Department of the Iceland Academy of the Arts:
Music · Innovation · Technology.
A big step is thus taken in music education in Iceland, but it is the first performer program at university level (B.Mus) devoted exclusively to rhythmic music, i.e. jazz; rock/pop; song and lyric writing; and sound art, sound processing and sound technology for alternative instruments.
The department's professional director is Dr. Phillip J. Doyle.
We wish the students, teachers and the Iceland Academy of the Arts a very happy day!
Here you can see the student group that attended the first course „Music sector I“ under the guidance of Gréta Salóme Stefánsdóttir, newly appointed associate professor at the department.
