Open Call for Praxis: IUA’s Performing Arts Symposium

Iceland University of the Arts, Department of Performing Arts, seeks contributions for Praxis, IUA’s Performing Arts Symposium, which will be held for the third time on Saturday, September 19th 2026. The symposium is a platform for artistic experiments, knowledge creation and dialogue between the performing arts scene and the academia. Thus, the symposium becomes a place for the Icelandic performing arts scene to come together, share methods and/or research, and look towards the future.

The theme of Praxis 2026 is "The Actor's Role" with emphasis on acting techniques and the actor’s work within the field of performing arts. Applications should include a CV and a XNUMX-page statement on the topic of the proposal and the reason for the application. Applications are open to all performing artists and should state how the proposal relates to the topic of Praxis. We are looking for contributions from the performing arts community, which can take the form of a lecture, workshop, seminar, work in progress, etc.

Contributions should be a maximum of 45 minutes including discussions. There is no payment for participation in Praxis.
