The film festival Filma took place in Bíó Paradís on the 29th-30th. May The festival is the first organized by the cinematic art department of the Iceland University of the Arts, but will hereby be a regular part at the end of each school year. It is safe to say that the debut was extremely successful, but the students' diverse film works were shown in front of a full hall of people at three exhibitions. The LHÍ Film Arts Department started operations two years ago, but there are now 22 students studying there. Then the third year of the department is expected this fall.
Diverse and exotic programs
The Film Film Film Festival is primarily a harvest festival of the Iceland University of the Arts' Faculty of Cinematography, where students present the results of the school year. The festival is done in collaboration with students who actively participate in the shaping, implementation and presentation of the project.
As mentioned, there were three exhibitions of the festival, but a total of 26 projects were on the program. The first exhibition was devoted to the final projects of the students in the 1st year, in the second exhibition selected works of the students in the 2nd year and finally the final project of the students in the 2nd year in the third were shown.
The projects were extremely diverse and exotic, and from the various categories ranging from documentaries to horror films. Here on the right you can see trailers from the students' projects this year.
FILM 2024
The number of guests far exceeded expectations and the atmosphere at Bíó Paradís was like no other. Photographer Eygló Gísladóttir captured the atmosphere and some beautiful moments, but photos from the festival can be seen below. We thank Bíó Paradís for the collaboration and sincerely congratulate the students and staff of the film department on their success and the magnificent film festival.
