Guðrún Elsa Bragadóttir has been appointed to the position of lecturer in the disciplines of film art at the Faculty of Cinematography and she will play the role of professional director of disciplines.

Guðrún Elsa Bragadóttir is a film and literary critic, born in 1986. She received a master's degree from SUNY Buffalo in 2016 and a PhD from the same school in 2021, while her doctoral thesis dealt with queer femininity, aggression and humor in film and other artistic creation. Before that, she studied literature and film studies at the University of Iceland, and from there she completed a BA degree in 2011 and an MA degree in 2013. Since 2017, she has taught film studies at the Technical School and the University of Iceland, but as of autumn 2022, she has worked as an adjunct professor and professional director of studies at the Iceland University of the Arts. In addition to teaching, she has given talks at national and international conferences and published articles in Icelandic and foreign academic publications, including the status of women in Icelandic filmmaking in the book Women in the International Film Industry: Policy, Practice and Power (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020). Currently, she is working on a book about Guðnýja Halldórsdóttir, a filmmaker, together with Kristína Svava Tómasdóttir.
