For the past eight years, students in their first year at the Master's studies of the Faculty of Fine Arts have spent one week in Hjalteyri as part of the studio of the fall. The project is a collaborative project between the Factory in Hjalteyri and the Iceland University of the Arts. Students have put on an exhibition in the Factory where the history of the factory and the uniqueness of the place is the material and subject of their works.
This time, the students stayed in Hjalteyri from September 15 - 22 together with the visual artist Brigid McLeer, who led the course together with Gústav Geir Bollason, visual artist and founder of the Factory.
The stay of the master students ended with the show Unpacking which opened in the Factory in Hjalteyri on Saturday, September 21. Pictures that Sepideh Safiyari took from the exhibition you can find below.
What we brought to Hjalteyr:
Triggers, molds, patience, possessibility, rope, salt, ghosts, breath, hot water bottle, iron, threshold, barrel mark, card file, bucket, fire, warm clothes, tea.
