The future of music life in Iceland rests on the shoulders of the young instrumentalists and singers who are currently taking their first steps on the big stage. It is a special cause for anticipation when outstanding young people step forward as soloists with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and enjoy the results of tireless work. Soloists at the concert will be selected in a competition held annually in collaboration with the Iceland Academy of the Arts This year it can honestly be said that the young artists are in good hands because it is the Finnish conductor Petri Sakari who is in charge of the composition He was the principal conductor of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra twice, between 1988 and 1993 and again from 1996 to 1998 and has for over 35 years been one of the main collaborators
