Riti-lecture: Walter Zimmermann, composer
The Laboratory of Music (RíT), in collaboration with the concert series Hljóðön, welcomes the German composer Walter Zimmermann, on Friday, April 25. Zimmermann gives a lecture on his own works and methods with an emphasis on his development of key systems without tonal centers.
Zimmermann taught composition at the conservatory in Liège, Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, but for the longest time was a professor of composition at the University of the Arts in Berlin since 1993. He has published a large number of articles and written the books Desert Plants (1976, conversations with 23 American composers) and Insel Musik (1981) along with editing the book Morton Feldman Essays (1985).

Walter Zimmermann (b. 1949) thought composition at the Conservatoire royal de musique in Liège from 1980 -84 and at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe from 1990 -92 and has thought as Professor für Komposition at the Universität der Künste Berlin since 1993. He has contributed articles to natural publications, has written the books Desert Plants (1976, conversations with 23 American composers) and Insel Musik (1981) and edited the collection Morton Feldman Essays (1985).
