MISCONFORMATION X
The project Misvíðir is now being carried out for the tenth time by students in fashion design in the 2nd year at the Iceland University of the Arts in collaboration with the Icelandic Red Cross Clothing Collection. Its aim is to investigate ways to create new clothing from unsaleable garments with the knowledge and methodology of design and at the same time draw attention to textile waste.
It is safe to say that clothing is produced far beyond what we need and that pollution for that reason is out of control Excessive consumer culture and the short life of textiles make the fashion and textile industries very unfriendly to the environment. We need to consider this, reduce consumption and make better use of what we have There, creative reuse can play an important role in the future but it does not have to bring down the joy of creativity With design methodology and knowledge, old clothes and materials can be given a new life, which we do here.
