$LEAZY PARTY

Máni Helgason
Solo exhibition in Kubb
Opening October 2, 5:00 PM - ca. 8:00 PM
—————
Sleazy Party discusses the party as an icon, a social space, and about the aesthetic code that society uses to capture the moment Rhythmic tones, prints, lights, and recycled furniture transform the exhibition space so that it becomes at once seedy and sleazy.
Despite the playful feel, we must ask ourselves, how does joy, mask and surface shape our identity and shared experience? Sleazy party is not only a platform to celebrate, but also an attempt to uncover invisible tension between glamour and decline, between what we face and what lives underneath.
With irony and lightness as a weapon, the show deals with the heavy-handed and brings out the ridiculous, breaking down the glossy image In times of conflict, it offers to step aside in a VIP atmosphere and enjoy the moment in good company.
