Guest corridor//Heiko Weissbach

In this lecture, Heiko Weissbach will present his personal experiences from working as an architect in 3 different countries (Denmark, France and Germany) over 3 decades and mention both the personal and the architectural highlights as well as the challenges, the trends and less bright moments in the life of an architect today. His aim is to inspire and to enable anybody research architecture (or another creative discipline) to follow their curiosity, interest and inspiration and not to lose faith when the world around seems to vanish.

Heiko Weissbach studied interior design in Copenhagen and architecture in Aarhus (Denmark) as well as at the Städelschule in Frankfurt (Germany).

After a number of years practicing and teaching in Denmark and France he returned to Berlin where he lives and works since 2006, initially as architect and project manager at the office of Sauerbruch Hutton, later as client representative and international project manager at Germany's Federal Foreign Office. Lastly he opened and headed CF Møller Architects’ branch in Berlin, where he built up the German office for one of the largest architectural practices in Northern Europe.

Heiko is a frequent traveler with a passion for the promotion of good architecture. Since his student years he organizations and conducts architectural guided tours and professional excursions in Germany and abroad (Denmark, France, Spain and Japan). In 2017 his ‘Architectural Guide Aarhus’ was published when his former home town was the European Capital of Culture. Currently he works on an Architectural Guide book for all of Denmark.
