Artist Tumi Magnússon gives a lecture on Friday, January 23 at 13 in the lecture hall in Laugarnes. Tumi plans to discuss recent installations and present some older works that show the development of his works through different media and his attitude towards art creation.

In his work, Tumi often focuses on simple and boring incidents in everyday life The works are based on simple logic and laws of nature embedded in these incidents and how they can be turned up to make them bearable and interesting The works also deal with how to use any situation as a tool to think about something completely different such as time, speed, sound and perception.

Tumi works with different media such as photographs, video, sound, and paintings that are important parts of his work He sees this as a way to maintain freshness, avoid achieving too much technical skill, and allow the potential of one medium to influence another medium His works possess playfulness that makes them accessible to the audience and surrounds them with a certain lightness.

The lecture will be in English.
