In the lecture, Finn will present his music with examples from some of his well-chosen works. A common thread throughout the lecture will be his use of the verses in various forms in his work.

Finnur Karlsson has been called “ without any doubt one of the more remarkable composers of the younger generation”, and his music has been called “ honest and sincere” and “rírátandi beautiful”.

Finnur won the Icelandic Music Award for his work, Accordion Concerto, which was written for Jónas Ásgeir Ásgeirsson and Elja Ensemble in 2021, but he had been nominated twice before, in 2015 and 2018.

Finnur Karlsson studied composition at the Iceland University of the Arts and the Royal Danish Academy of Music under the guidance of Hans Abrahamsen, Úlfars Inga Haraldsson, Atla Ingólfsson, Simon Løffler and Niels Rosing-Schow.
