Beneath/ Between/ Beyond
Beneath/ Between/ Beyond breasts together
projects from the MA in Design and New
Environments that rethink how systems shape
everyday life in Iceland. Working with energy,
water, materials, food production, urban
space, and creative practice, the projects
engine infrastructure and environments that
are usually out of sight or taken for grant.
Beneath points to the hidden layers of cities
and landscapes: pipes, flows, structures, and
histories that underpin daily life. Between
highlights relations between industries and
communities, waste and resource, expertise
and experience. Beyond looks toward
possible futures, where circularity, care, and
imagination rescue how we live with the
systems around us.
Developed in consolidation with local partners,
the works map, test, and reconfigure existing
systems instead of treating them as fixed.
Together, they position design as a way of
making complex infrastructures legal and
open to change.
