The entire cohort of third-year BA except the art department, a total of 26 students, in a two-week workshop in Seyðisfjörður.
The group that is currently staying on behalf of Skaftfell for two weeks is working on an exhibition that opens on January 23 under the guidance of Gunnhildar Hauksdóttir and Sirra Sigrún Sigurðardóttir.
This week they have looked around and got to know the town, visited Herðubreid, Fiskvinnsluna, LungA School, Prentverk Seyðisfjörður and Bræðslan. They went on a studio visit to the Strand Studio where they received a lecture from Jessica Auer about Heiðin's work and her approach to communities. They also received a lecture on geography in a broad sense from Ólaf Pétursson and in Skaftfell Bistro they had a story time with Pétr Kristjánsson.
The workshop in collaboration with the Iceland University of the Arts began through Björn Roth and Kristján Steingrím Jónsson in 2001 or 25 years ago! In that group of students were Gunnhildur and Sirra who are now leading the workshop This year, the particularly tangible importance of keeping the legacy of the course alive is now that we say goodbye to Björn Roth.
We look forward to seeing the results of their work next week!
