Last January, the theater group Bakvið was awarded a grant from the Performing Arts Fund to stage the play The visit to Thalia. Vigdís Gunnarsdóttir, assistant professor at the art education department, is in charge of the theater group and wrote the work. Along with her, the group includes Halldóra Rósa Björnsdóttir, Sigríður Ásta Olgeirsdóttir and Tómas Geir Howser.

 

 

In the spring months, the theater group will invite students in the 4th and 5th grades of elementary schools in the West to the play The visit to Thalia. The work revolves around a visit to the theater to the drama goddess Thalia.

During the visit, the audience gets to know colorful individuals who work in the theater, look behind the scenes and become participants in an exciting scenario that stretches through the different corners of the theater The show gives students a glimpse into the world of the theater in a lively and creative way.
